I Speak in the Halls of Power

The audience will be welcomed to a “cabaret in hell”, in which the cabaret performers narrate the story we see on stage.

At the heart of the story are Edward and Maya, two young revolutionaries from different classes and backgrounds, whose love for each other is undying, but who are pulled apart by their ideologies. Themes of the play include: loss, revolution, and power.

If you saw our spring version of the play, get ready for something very different, full of life, music, and camp.

観客の皆さまをお迎えするのは、「地獄のキャバレー」。そこではキャバレーの出演者たちが語り手となり、舞台上で繰り広げられる物語へと誘います。

物語の中心となるのは、異なる階級と境遇で育った二人の若き革命家、エドワードとマヤ。互いへの愛は決して揺らぐことはありません。しかし、それぞれの信じる思想によって、二人は引き裂かれていきます。

本作では、「喪失」「革命」「権力」といったテーマを描きます。

A demonic cabaret troupe is doomed to repeat a single story forever: In a world very much like our own, a ruthless military dictator reigns supreme, the only check on his vast power the oligarchs who support him and his chief propagandist. The people cry out to the gods for relief. Some believe the only way forward is to dismantle everything. Others believe that all that is needed is a good man to take the wheel.

In I Speak in the Halls of Power, we follow the story of Edward, a writer and public intellectual, and Maya, a revolutionary determined to tear everything down. Together they are the heart of the coming revolution, until Edward is given the chance to seize power and change everything. Can their love survive? Can their country survive? Can a good man change the system from the inside?

悪魔たちによるキャバレー一座は、永遠にひとつの物語を演じ続けるという呪いを背負っています。

その物語の舞台は、私たちの世界によく似た、とある国。冷酷な軍事独裁者が絶大な権力を握り、その力を抑えられるのは、彼を支える寡頭支配層と、その政権を巧みに正当化する主席プロパガンダ官だけです。救いを求める民衆は神々に祈ります。すべてを壊さなければ未来はないと信じる者もいれば、善き指導者さえ現れれば世界は変えられると信じる者もいます。

『I SPEAK IN THE HALLS OF POWER』が描くのは、革命家エドワードとマヤの物語。二人は、あらゆる既存の体制を打ち壊そうとする革命の中心人物です。しかし、エドワードが権力を手にし、政界の内側から世界を変える機会を得たとき、二人の運命は大きく揺らぎ始めます。

二人の愛は生き残ることができるのか。
祖国は未来を手にすることができるのか。
そして、本当に「善き人」は、権力の内側からシステムを変えることができるのか。
